Applications for our February 2022 accelerator programme are open now

Subak’s core mission is to accelerate climate action by unlocking climate data and supercharging nonprofit capabilities. Our accelerator programme offers funding, learning and resources to help organisations develop skills to unlock and mobilise data for impact.

After our first year of the programme proving a brilliant success, we are now looking for organisations to join Cohort One of our year-long accelerator, starting in February 2022.

Keeping 1.5 degrees alive? Subak’s take on COP26

With the imperative task of “keeping 1.5 degrees alive” at the forefront, it’s fair to say there was a lot riding on Glasgow’s COP26. This year’s COP marked five years since the Paris Agreement, so it was particularly important as countries were due to submit their updated nationally determined contributions in order to align with a 1.5 degree target. The question on everyone’s mind, then, as the dust begins to settle on negotiations: “Was COP26 a success?” We put together a few of our thoughts across various focus areas, as well as gathering responses from Subak’s Cohort Zero community.

The Subak story started when Baroness Bryony Worthington read Roland Kupers’ book ‘A Climate Policy Revolution’. Bryony was drawn to a co-operative water management system developed for Indonesian rice fields in the 9th Century named Subak. The system allowed for the sharing of critical resources (in this case, water) to ensure the survival and growth of the community…
